Polkadot is expecting to overhaul its Relay Chain protocol in the near future; however, before that happens, it has made a very important upgrade. The protocol called the latest upgrade “Asynchronous Backing,” an optimized approach for how parachain blocks are validated by the Relay Chain.
In the Polkadot ecosystem, the parachain or sub-blockchains are at the center of blockchain innovation. The latest protocol upgrade states that parachains will now experience higher block space utilization. Asynchronous backing is expected to increase throughput by 8 times. This scaling will be achieved “without sacrificing security, paving the way for supporting Web3 applications across verticals such as gaming and DeFi.”
Polkadot drives mass adoption of enterprise solutions across its ecosystem through developer-centric innovation. The protocol notes that the throughput provided by the latest upgrade is important to support large-scale platforms such as Mythical Games. The upgrade helped DOT, its native token, maintain its gains last week. At the time of writing, the coin fell 1.20% to $7.02, but the weekly growth was 11.09%.
