Bitcoin Official X (Twitter) Makes Fun of XRP, Community Reacts

News RoomBy News RoomJune 21, 2025No Comments3 Mins Read

The official Bitcoin X account has reignited the BTC–XRP feud with its latest post.

Yesterday, the Bitcoin official X account posted a meme trolling XRP. The post featured a two-panel comic meme characterizing XRP as “crap,” meaning an asset of extremely low quality.

    Bitcoin Trolls XRP

In the first frame of the meme, a kid checked the bottom of his shoe in disgust after stepping on something unpleasant. The Bitcoin account quoted the kid saying, “I just stepped in some crap.”

Notably, the second frame showed a clearer picture of the shoe, labeling the so-called crap as XRP. The post represents a visual insult from Bitcoin’s official X handle to XRP, referring to the fourth-biggest cryptocurrency by market cap as “crap.”

    XRP Community Reacts

As expected, the post reignited the longstanding feud between the Bitcoin and XRP communities, which many industry stakeholders have tried to resolve over the years.

Following the Bitcoin post, the XRP community responded with similar energy, trolling the world’s largest cryptocurrency by market cap.

An XRP community member, Six8Jay, recaptioned the meme criticizing Bitcoin’s transaction speed. In Six8Jay’s rendition, the first frame of the meme showed a kid stepping on a “slow crap,” while the second frame showed Bitcoin under the shoe.

Edoardo Farina, the founder of Alpha Lions Academy, recounted how David Schwartz, Jed McCaleb, and Arthur Britto created the XRP Ledger (XRPL) to fix Bitcoin’s inherent flaws, particularly its proof-of-work (PoW) algorithm. He further referred to BTC as (B)eta (T)est (C)oin, while calling XRP the final product.

One community member, RISKTAKE, suggested that the Bitcoin account trolled XRP because it considers the coin a serious threat. Another XRP enthusiast criticized Bitcoin’s speed, saying he paid for his coffee using Bitcoin, but the Barista stopped him from leaving because the transaction was still processing.

Furthermore, popular XRP community figure Alex Cobb shared a screenshot showing that the official Bitcoin account had blocked him on X, describing the move as “super bearish.”

Meanwhile, other crypto enthusiasts urged both communities to end the feud and unite for the greater good of the industry.

    Bitcoin and XRP Rivalry

Both communities have been at odds over the past few years, with this rivalry manifesting on social media platforms like X.

Earlier this year, the XRP and Bitcoin communities clashed due to the U.S. crypto reserve initiative. Some Bitcoin maximalists claimed Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse advocated against BTC’s inclusion in the project. However, Garlinghouse denied the allegation, noting that he was advocating for a multi-coin reserve rather than one centered solely on Bitcoin.

As the hostilities linger, Ripple donated the “Skull of Satoshi” as a peace offering to the Bitcoin community last month. Garlinghouse noted that the Skull of Satoshi, which was initially used to highlight Bitcoin’s high energy usage, showcases BTC’s longevity.

Less than a month after Ripple made the peace offering, Bitcoin’s X account has renewed its feud with XRP.
