Decentralized cryptocurrency exchange Uniswap (UNI) shared in its statement today that it will make a big announcement tomorrow.
In the official statement, an expression was used as “There will be a Blast (explosion) tomorrow”, and this was interpreted as the announcement meaning that Blast, one of the relatively new layer-2 platforms on Uniswap, will be integrated.
Although the content of the announcement was most likely about Blast, the fact that the announcement was made on April 1 caused its seriousness to be questioned. However, Uniswap asked users to turn on their notifications for tomorrow’s announcement.
When asked if this was an April Fool’s joke, they shared on the official account of the decentralized exchange that it was not a joke and that they would make a real announcement.
Blast is known as an Ethereum Layer 2 network that provides extra rewards to token holders. Blast has its origins in a completely different project, Blur, an NFT decentralized exchange (DEX) that runs on Ethereum, uses optimistic roll-up technology for scaling, and is considered one of the leading NFT providers in the crypto world.
Blur was also in crypto news when it was revealed that its founder, Pacman, was actually a 24-year-old who dropped out of both high school and MIT to found Namebase, his first crypto project before Blur. After finding success with Blur, Pacman realized there was a need for a more versatile scaling solution on Ethereum.
