Insider Reveals Donald Trump’s Critical Cryptocurrency Move on His First Day

News RoomBy News RoomJanuary 13, 2025No Comments2 Mins Read

President Donald Trump is set to take swift action on cryptocurrency regulation when he returns to the White House, according to the Washington Post.

A Washington Post politics reporter has revealed that Trump plans to issue crypto-related executive orders on his first day in office, signaling a dramatic shift in regulatory priorities.

The move comes as part of a broader effort to reshape the regulatory landscape, with significant contributions from leading venture capitalists (VCs) and technology leaders. Marc Andreessen, a prominent figure in the venture capital community, has reportedly been deeply involved in the hiring and interviewing of candidates for key roles in the administration, including positions at the Department of Defense and intelligence agencies.

The collaboration reflects what insiders call a “Small Tech” agenda that aims to spur innovation by reducing restrictive regulations. Early victories on that agenda include the appointment of artificial intelligence and crypto chief David Sacks, who has been working with industry leaders on legislative strategies.

Sacks also pledged to repeal his controversial AI executive order in 2023, a move applauded by Andreessen Horowitz and other influential VC firms. The repeal is expected to be part of a broader effort to align federal policies with industry interests, particularly in the areas of AI and cryptocurrency.

A key issue expected to be addressed in the Day One executive orders will be the de-banking of cryptocurrency companies. The orders could also repeal a controversial accounting policy that requires banks holding digital assets to classify them as liabilities on their balance sheets.

“The Trump team has made it very clear that this is a priority,” said a source familiar with the talks.

The upcoming swearing-in ceremony is expected to draw significant attention from the tech and crypto communities. Another prominent VC, Peter Thiel, is reportedly planning a celebratory event, while a “Crypto Ball” is planned for later in the week.
