Compact Games NFT launches its collection of ‘virtual game CDs’ for traders to mint and run on desktop and mobile devices starting from Jan. 31.

Available on the NFT marketplace Magic Eden, Compact Games offers traders a collection of 33 unique games to choose from, each with four kinds of rarities: standard, bronze, silver and gold.

The games featured on the Compact Games NFT site have an arcade-style of gameplay, similar to the classic mobile games such as Candy Crush or Flappy Bird. Some of the titles shown are The Witch, Spirit Halloween, Shumii, and Moonsheep. Not only that, a lot of the games seem to take inspiration from popular crypto icons, these include titles like Pengu Pong, Cryptoads, Flappy Pengu and Odd Toad Run.

The developers have prepared a total of 3333 “virtual game CDs” that traders can purchase as a non-fungible token at a price of 0.06 ETH (ETH). Minting for Compact Games NFT will begin on Jan. 31 on the Abstract mainnet, alongside other popular NFTs.

How to play Compact Games NFT?

In order to play the virtual CD, NFT holders need to connect their crypto wallets to the Compact Games virtual console platform using any provider. Then, they can choose from a list of available virtual game CDs and insert the game CD into the virtual console to run it. The experience mirrors the process of inserting video game CDs to play on consoles like in the 90s and early 2000s.

“At its core is a virtual console where users can play NFT-based games on desktop and mobile devices. Immerse yourself in an exciting gaming experience that fuses fun with the innovation of blockchain technology,” wrote Compact Games NFT on the official site.

Compact Games NFT is one of the latest gaming initiatives launched on the blockchain. However, not all ventures have been successful. As previously reported by crypto.news, Midnight Society, the studio developing video game YouTuber Dr Disrespect’s Deadrop, announced that it was shutting down operations after three years.

As a result, the game that was supposed to be a PvPvE extraction shooter set in the 80s will never see its release.
