Notcoin’s latest venture ushers in a new era for Telegram-based crypto gaming with a story-driven, NFT-powered experience.

2024 has certainly been a great year for the web3 gaming space. One of the standout projects has been Notcoin, which has racked up millions of dollars in revenue and a horde of users. The clicker game got over 20 million players in just a month of launch and showed that crypto gaming has been going in a new direction.

This is especially true when you consider Telegram as a platform. It has always been popular within the crypto space but has lacked compelling crypto gaming projects. With the launch of Notcoin, a new era has been ushered in where investors are clamoring to buy into Telegram-based games. As you’ll see in the list of crypto presale projects by Valuewalk by Kane Pepi, many games of that genre have become very popular.

Another notable trend in the crypto gaming space is crypto betting, which is much more prominent these days. Because crypto allows consumers to bet while retaining more of their privacy and also double their profits, it has become a billion-dollar sector. With all these in mind, the teams behind these projects will want to strike while the iron is hot, thus Notcoin’s latest announcement.

A new venture from Notcoin

Notcoin has announced a new partnership with the NFT collection Lost Dogs and The Open Network (TON)-based NFT marketplace Getgems. Together, the three will be launching a new web3 game but unlike Notcoin, it will be story-driven. The purpose of this, it has been explained, is to give deeper engagement for players and create more experiences not solely centered around crypto.

The way Notcoin’s management has explained it, they are aware that the click-to-earn model is not sustainable in the long run, no matter how much success they have already seen. So what will this new game entail?

Players will interact as Lost Dog characters and evolve as they complete challenges and rack up new achievements. This creates a storyline that players can enjoy and continue to engage with.

“Because everything in our lives is a form of narrative. Life itself is a narrative concept. Therefore, we aimed to establish this synchronicity in our game — as above, so below,” said Mad Tail, the chief barking officer of the Lost Dogs collection.

The NFT choice

It is quite curious that this new venture will be NFT-based. These assets have seen their popularity go up and down over time. When they first came on the scene, they were immensely popular, with collections like the Bored Ape Club commanding millions for a single asset.

However, they saw a slump in value around 2022 as they were increasingly criticized by the public amid the crypto winter. As far as some critics were concerned, NFTs were done. In the last year, NFTs seem to have had a resurgence in popularity, with consumers seemingly less hostile to them.

As such, it makes sense that Notcoin would partner with an NFT-focused project to push this new web3 game. However, only time will tell how the public will react to this new game.
