New York, NY — Sonic, the pioneering gaming-focused Solana Virtual Machine (SVM) on Solana, and Injective, a high-performance WASM-based Layer 1 network, have teamed up to develop the world’s first cross-chain Smart Agent platform. This new collaboration will connect the Solana and Injective ecosystems, creating a seamless bridge for AI agents through the innovative Smart Agent Hub.

Leveraging Sonic’s cutting-edge HyperGrid technology, the collaboration will establish a dedicated Solana Virtual Machine grid, enabling a direct, efficient cross-chain connection between Solana and Injective. The AI agents developed on this SVM grid will integrate seamlessly into the Injective ecosystem via the Inter-Blockchain Communication (IBC) Protocol.

Key Innovations Driving the Smart Agent Hub

Both Sonic and Injective are focused on delivering a suite of technical innovations that will elevate the Smart Agent Hub, particularly through:

Injective SVM Grid: The collaboration will deploy a Solana-based rollup, allowing direct communication between Injective’s WASM blockchain and Solana using the IBC protocol.
Cross-Chain Asset Interoperability: A bidirectional bridge will facilitate effortless asset transfers, including SOL and Injective tokens, between both chains in both native and wrapped token formats.
Unified Developer Experience: Injective developers will be able to deploy Solana-based applications with ease, utilizing a single RPC endpoint and tools such as an SVM Explorer and comprehensive deployment docs.

The Smart Agent Hub aims to revolutionize decentralized application development by providing developers with powerful tools to create, manage, and monetize AI agents. These agents can be tokenized and co-owned, opening new avenues for fractional ownership and revenue sharing. Through this infrastructure, AI agents will be able to operate across Web3 games, DeFi applications, social platforms, and more, transforming the landscape of decentralized finance and gaming.

Chris Zhu, CEO of Sonic, expressed excitement about the collaboration, stating:
“This is a monumental step for cross-chain infrastructure. By integrating Sonic’s HyperGrid technology with Injective’s high-performance blockchain, we’re enabling developers to create applications that seamlessly operate across ecosystems. AI agent frameworks are just the beginning of what’s possible.”

A Growing Market for AI Agents

As Solana continues to see exponential growth in trading volume and user activity, fueled by projects like pump.fun, the demand for AI agent tooling has also surged. Virtuals Protocol on Base has similarly validated the demand, reporting over $1B in trading volume and confirming the potential for AI agents within Web3 ecosystems. The market cap for AI agents, including tokens like $VIRTUAL, has reached $8.8B as of now.

With DeFi, DePIN, NFTs, and gaming all expanding rapidly, the Sonic-Injective team believes AI agents could soon rival these verticals in size and value, positioning their Smart Agent Hub at the heart of Solana’s decentralized infrastructure.

What’s Next?

The integration of the Smart Agent Hub will roll out in phases, with a testnet deployment expected in Q1 2025. As the project progresses, Sonic and Injective will onboard industries such as gaming, entertainment, DeFi, and social platforms like TikTok and Web3 games.
