Terra Luna Classic Adopts Max Block Size Reduction Proposal

News RoomBy News RoomApril 22, 2024No Comments2 Mins Read

The Terra Luna Classic community has recently approved a significant proposal designed to address potential risks associated with peer-to-peer storm attacks on the Terra Classic chain.

Esteemed developers have highlighted the potential risks to ecosystems such as Cosmos, Solana, and Polkadot, and have suggested initial measures to minimize the impact of such attacks.

Proposal 12094, titled “Proposal to decrease MaxBlockSize,” has successfully surpassed the required threshold and has been officially approved by the Terra Luna Classic community. The development team at Genuine Labs put forward a proposal to decrease MaxBlockSize from 5mb to 2mb as an initial security measure to counter peer-to-peer spam.

The proposal has garnered an overwhelming 99.87% “Yes” votes, underlining the importance of increasing the max block size limit to prevent attacks on the chain.

Out of the 56 validators who participated, 55, including Allnodes, Interstellar Lounge, Interstake One, Jesus Is Lord, Stalely, and others, have voted in favor of the proposal.

Validators believe this to be the most viable option currently available until Genuine Labs finds a permanent solution. Notional Labs CEO Jacob Gadikian suggested that the community should also reduce the block size to between 850kb and 1mb.

Another proposal, suggesting an increase in gas fees by 10x, has also been submitted, claiming that current transaction fee levels are excessively low, making attacks feasible and economical.
