    The recent VeChain hackathon at Cambridge University has left a lasting mark on the blockchain community, setting new standards for innovation and collaboration. With a record-breaking turnout of over 250 participants, the event showcased the immense talent and creativity within the blockchain space.

    Highlights include, a total of 52 projects launched on the VeChain blockchain, demonstrating the platform’s versatility and potential for real-world applications. Participants competed for a total of $30,000 in prize money, incentivizing the development of groundbreaking solutions.

    The event attracted a diverse range of participants, including PhDs, experienced founders, and budding developers, reflecting the broad appeal and accessibility of blockchain technology.

    VeChain’s commitment to fostering innovation and sustainability was evident throughout the hackathon. Winners of the VeChain track included projects that addressed pressing issues such as sustainable food consumption, carbon accounting, and food waste reduction.

    Taking first place is Meatless. This winning entry offers an incentive-based app that rewards consumers for choosing sustainable food products. Leveraging VeChainThor’s fast and scalable transactions, Meatless promotes eco-friendly choices while making them rewarding for users.

    Taking second place is Carbonic. Carbonic serves as a bridge between consumers and companies, encouraging smarter spending habits through a blockchain reward system. By automating carbon accounting for companies and offering carbon cashback for consumers, Carbonic incentivizes sustainable business practices and spending.

    Finally, at third place is DishDeal. DishDeal takes an innovative approach to food waste by utilizing AI and AR to turn surplus food into 3D NFTs. The platform connects consumers with restaurants, promotes sustainable purchasing, and rewards users with tokens for each transaction on the VeChainThor blockchain.

    Overall, the VeChain hackathon was a resounding success, showcasing the potential of blockchain technology to drive positive change in various industries. As VeChain continues to push the boundaries of innovation, the future looks brighter than ever for blockchain adoption and sustainability efforts.
