News RoomBy News RoomDecember 10, 2024No Comments1 Min Read

While regulatory efforts regarding cryptocurrencies continue, new statements came from CMB President İbrahim Ömer Gönül.

According to CNN, SPK President Ömer Gönül, speaking at the 8th Capital Markets Congress, said that work on secondary regulations regarding cryptocurrencies is ongoing.

İbrahim Ömer Gönül made a statement regarding the issue, “We are taking steps to implement secondary regulations regarding cryptocurrencies very soon.”

Following the publication of the secondary regulation, on-site inspections will be conducted at crypto asset service providers and the authorization process will be completed.

    What Happened?

As is known, the “Law on Amendments to the Capital Markets Law” numbered 518, known to the public as the cryptocurrency law, entered into force at the beginning of July in Turkey by being published in the Official Gazette on 02.07.2024.

Within the scope of this law, cryptocurrency service providers operating or to operate in Turkey were placed under the regulatory and supervisory authority of the Capital Markets Board (CMB).
