    Gear Up for Desktop Client

News RoomBy News RoomApril 16, 2024No Comments3 Mins Read

Decentraland, a virtual world platform that allows users to buy real estate and conduct NFT transactions with the MANA cryptocurrency, has recently published its first quarterly update, as promised to customers in its 2024 statement. The Decentraland Foundation manages the platform, which offers a realm where avatars can buy and trade clothing as well as engage in other 3D activities.

Although extremely popular, Decentraland has received criticism for technical flaws and an empty virtual world, resulting in a $1.2 billion valuation in 2022. In response, the platform is taking steps to entice people to its new program, ‘Forging Foundations for the Future’, which aims to create a powerful, strong, and efficient desktop client to improve the in-world experience and allow Decentraland to grow.

The product team’s key focus this year will be the release of the ‘Desktop Client’ in Q2, which will contain significant improvements to networking, avatar creation, animation creation, locomotion, and the complete user interface. One significant enhancement is that artists will now be able to test their wearables on moving avatars, with the maximum size for skin wearables increasing from 2 MB to 8 MB.

Additionally, to reduce the barrier to entry for new creators, the $100 submission fee can now be paid with a Wert-powered credit or debit card, eliminating the need to purchase MANA beforehand.

In addition, the SDK 7 Templates will empower developers to effortlessly incorporate scenes into their world or LAND with a few button presses; examples of such scenes include The House, The Night Club, The Office, The Shop, and The Theater.

In order to improve the usability of the editor and the LAND as a whole, modifications have been executed. In addition, many new functionalities have been added to the most recent updates to Smart Items.

These include Player Health Smart Items, Multiplayer Smart Items, a user-friendly Smart Item View, the incorporation of Positions and Data from All Players, an illustrative UI Feedback Example Scene, the capability to manage Scene Audio from the SDK, a comprehensive Dev Experience Package, and numerous bug fixes. Additionally, the ability to associate map NAMES with Wallet Addresses and an improved NAME Minting process have been added.

The governance proposal will permit the transmission of assets containing the complete wallet address of the recipient, including wearables and emoticons, using their NAME. In addition, users are now able to generate a name on the Marketplace, navigate to a landing page associated with that name, and finalize their transactions by employing card payments or cryptocurrencies.

Additionally, Decentraland intends to broaden its multi-chain purchasing capabilities to enable users to acquire LANDs, wearables, emoticons, and names in cryptocurrency. Any cryptocurrency that operates on-chain may be utilized by purchasers, such as Avalanche, Ethereum, Polygon, Arbitrum, Binance, Smart Chain, Optimism, and Fantom.
